Animal Alliance South Cumberland -- Who We Are

Animal Alliance South Cumberland is a federally designated 501c3 non-profit organization administered entirely by volunteers. Through making spaying and neutering of companion pets available and affordable to all our area residents, we are committed to ending pet overpopulation on the southern tip of the Cumberland Plateau region of Tennessee.

We work in cooperation with Wally’s Friends, a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic near Chattanooga (www.wallysfriends.com) to provide surgeries and low cost vaccinations to companion pets. We also provide access to other minor low-cost veterinarian treatments as may be required. Wally’s Friends brings their Saving Animals Van to our site in Tracy City at least once a month to pick up a van load of dogs and cats and transport them for sterilization surgeries in their clinic in Red Bank, TN. Our AASC volunteers provide all registration and documentation, transportation crates, loading and unloading, and crate sanitation for the trip to Wally’s Friends.

Wally’s Friends and Animal Alliance South Cumberland are both non-profit agencies. Therefore, we already offer greatly reduced prices for spaying and neutering services. These surgeries are not free to us, nor are they free to Wally’s Friends, because licensed veterinarians perform these procedures and do not volunteer their professional services. We do, however, offer some financially assistance for low-income families who would not otherwise be able to afford to have their pets “fixed”. Please call
931-235-9006 for details of assistance for our low-cost program.

Animal Alliance is NOT a shelter, so we do not pick up stray animals or investigate abuse cases. We have neither facilities nor staff nor volunteers to deal with stray animals. We ask that when you find a dog or cat in need of help, you do the humane thing and provide that help. Feed them, get them medical attention if necessary, and foster them. Our group will be more than happy to help you get these “homeless” animals spayed or neutered, and do everything we can to help you find a loving home for these precious animals. Even if you don’t intend to keep the animal, please consider sponsoring the sterilization surgery.

We have been very successful in linking abandoned dogs and cats to their forever families by first having the animal fixed through our spay/neuter program. Remember that pets are more adoptable if they have already been spayed and neutered, and puppies and kittens can have completely safe sterilization surgeries when they are as young as eight weeks. Don’t wait for an animal to go into heat. By then, yet another addition to the overpopulation problem is just weeks away. Please call 592-3723 for additional information about adoption assistance.

If you do know of a case of animal abuse, and you in live one of our South Cumberland cities, please call your local city police chief. If you live in the county, please call your county sheriff and report this violation of state law. catdog cuddle

gracepups Our second mission at AASC is education. We are committed to educating the public about the economic, public health and humane importance of spaying and neutering companion pets, and the appropriate care of these animals. If you belong to an organization or club and would like to have one of our volunteers come and speak about this important community issue, please call, and we will be happy to arrange a presentation for your group

AASC is here on the Mountain with this as our primary goal: ending the unconscionable suffering and innumerable deaths caused by pet overpopulation. We can not do this alone. We need YOU. We need everyone in our communities working together to get this done. Spaying and neutering saves dollars, saves community resources, and most importantly of all, it saves lives.

None of these animals are broken, but they ALL need to be fixed
