Our Sponsors FAQs How to make a donation Contact Us 501 pets have been spayed or neutered through the Animal Alliance program since our first transport October 2008. Using statistics from the Humane Society, we have conceivably reduced the number of unwanted puppies and kittens by over 4800 animals. Numbers are great, but it's the stories behind the numbers that make this program so worthwhile and important. Ava's Story
Hi, my name is Ava, and I am a real survivor. I was abandoned in a cemetery months ago because I had a horrible case of mange. Kind people saw me from time to time, but couldn't catch me, I thought my name was HerePuppyPuppyPuppy, but it turns out my name is really Ava. I was confused. No wonder they couldn’t catch me. One lady put mange medicine in food she left for me and cured my mange. However, before I was rescued, I was hit by a car. You’d think all that would be enough to make me give up hope, but I just couldn’t. I had others to think of, because in the middle of all this, I delivered and cared for my seven puppies, even though I was homeless and sick. But still I had hope. During the winter, that same kind lady also brought a doghouse to me, so I would have shelter in which to raise my puppies. But someone took it. Took my dog house! Now I was homeless again. I felt like a yet another victim of the Wall Street housing disaster. I dug holes under fallen trees near a creek where I managed to raise my puppies in the worst snowstorm in years. Animal lovers who saw me left food everyday. But once my puppies were weaned, my life drastically changed for the better. Six people came, and despite all my misguided efforts to escape, they caught all my puppies and me. I was scared, but I still had hope. My puppies were taken to a shelter to find their forever homes, and I was taken into foster care. I’ve been in foster care for months now, but I still have hope. I long for a forever home of my own. I don't chew up things or make a mess and I am housebroken. I love to be with people and other dogs and don’t mind the occasional car ride. I’m loved and well cared for, but I want my forever home. May I show you what a truly loveable, resourceful, and good girl I am? ![]() Oh! And the most important thing on my resume is that the good people at the AASC have had me spayed, vaccinated, and wormed. They tell me I’m heartworm negative and my foster mom gives me regular heartworm medicine to keep me healthy. Some goodhearted human paid for two surgeries for ear haemetomas, but I’m ok now. Doesn’t my vocabulary impress you? Did I mention I’m housebroken? I weigh 40 lbs. and I don’t know who my parents are (that means I’m a mixed breed). But YOU could be my human family. My foster mom said that I could stay with her as long as I need to, but she will let me go to a family that needs me to love them. CALL 931-235-9006
